TreeCycle is a company that grew up around the passion and creativity of Bob Taggart, a lifelong entrepreneur and tree services enthusiast. At age 19, Bob became a tree surgeon, and founded Taggart’s Tree Care in Boston. Since then he has run a number of businesses, but in 2003 returned to his passion – tree care and related industries. He specialized in analyzing inefficiencies in the tree care industry and patented a new solution for disposal of wood chips.
In 2005, together with his wife Mary, Bob established TreeCycle’s first Class B Recycling Center in Glen Gardner, NJ. They looked for new ways to re-manufacture and/or distribute recycled wood, and decided wood pellets would be an optimal path, from environmental, economic and conservation points of view.
In the interim, the business of manufacturing wood pellets for fuel has become widely accepted, worldwide. Under Bob’s direction, TreeCycle creates wood pellets using only recycled wood – no trees are cut down for TreeCycle products. As the company expands to four full locations, Bob Taggart’s initial philosophies, applied economies and passion are the centerpiece of this cutting edge business.
Our goal is to produce wood pellets without using any fossil fuels. We plan to build a cogeneration plant to produce our own electricity – making TreeCycle one of the only pellet manufacturers to produce a truly green pellet.
The co-generation plant will be powered by wood products not suitable for pellets, so we are using 100% of our recycled resources. In addition, excess electricity will be sold back to the grid to power homes!
